  Heartless! Let me explain... my family and I were passing through Cranbrook while on a road trip. We stopped at the local dog park to allow our pup to exercise and take a break from the car. As any parent knows a young kid who needs to use the bathroom never gives much warning, and it’s always urgent once you’ve been informed. So my son decides at this moment it’s life or death that we find a restroom. So I look across the street and see the smart mart store. We make our way as quickly as possible, and as soon as we enter the clerk informs us there is no public washroom. It is very evident from looking at us that my son is in an emergent state, and I am more than happy to make a purchase, or many purchases to make this happen. I ask please, it’s just my little boy and I know there’s a bathroom in the building. Again she completely refuses and does not care whatsoever. I ask if there’s any other restrooms anywhere near and she just says no. We had to go down the outdoor mall strip and just ask everyone and a few doors down a very kind lady running a loose leaf tea shop allowed him to use her bathroom just in the nick of time. I understand not posting a “public” washroom, I also can see where a business would see less stress and problems by not offering a public washroom. But when a little boy is in serious trouble and a mother is willing to beg and buy all the junk food in the world but a business still refuses to show a little ‘’mother to mother” understanding? I would never support such a cold hearted business.

  Not a bad little convenience store. Staff was friendly.
